Description

This class is designed for handlers and dogs new to the exciting sport of Hoopers; and is perfect for handlers and dogs that are already trained/training in agility. Hoopers is a fun, lower-impact agility sport that emphasizes speed, precision, and teamwork as dogs navigate a course of hoops, barrels, and tunnels. This introductory class aims to build the foundational skills necessary for success in Hoopers. Participants will start by learning the basics of navigating through hoops and tunnels; and around barrels and gates. Handlers will be guided on how to use body language and verbal cues to direct their dogs through the course efficiently. Both agility style handling and distance handling will be taught. Emphasis will be placed on safety, consistency, and positive reinforcement to create a fun and rewarding experience for both the dog and handler. *Training Methods* Instructors are proficient in positive training methods and will use luring, targeting, and shaping training methods to help handlers and dogs progress their knowledge and skills. The use of food, toys, life-rewards (swimming, sniffing) play, praise and petting are all strongly encouraged. Session Length: 4-weeks Class Length: 1-hour Fee (includes taxes): $135.60 Instructor: Chantelle Charlebois Planned Cancellations: November 6 1.
