Rat Trailing & Locating

Description
This class is for teams that are ready to compete in sanctioned Rats! Canada events; this class is not appropriate for dogs new to rat scenting. If you are unsure if this class is appropriate for you or your dog please send us a message before you register. Trailing and Location is a scent tracking class offered by Rats! Canada. Trailing and Locating is designed to simulate a dog’s natural ability to follow and locate quarry through scent in an outdoor environment. In this exercise, the dog is evaluated on how effectively it can track a scent trail, locate the source, and clearly indicate its presence. The scent trail is created using rat litter that has been steeped to produce a liquid scent. Dogs are expected to follow this trail with care and accuracy, staying close to the path without straying. Depending on the level, the track may include a set number of turns, including sharp angles, dead ends, and areas with used litter “nests. Session Length: 8-weeks Class Length: 1-hour Fee (includes taxes): $271.20 Instructor: Julie Connor, Rats! Canada Judge PLANNED CANCELLATIONS: June 19, July 3, July 24, July 31 PLEASE READ: This class is a new offering by Instructor Julie Connor and Millennium Dog Sports and may or may not be offered again in the future. Class is outdoors in an open field. Class will run rain or shine - prepare to dress appropriately. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are responsible for providing their own tracking equipment - a harness designed for pulling/tracking and a light long line 15-20' in length. 1. Indoor shoes are required if using the indoor crating area (November to April) 2. There is a $25 cleaning fee for each potty accident that occurs indoors. 3. Crates are required for all dogs attending this class. This is for the safety of all dogs, handlers, and instructors. Instead of a crate handlers may keep their dogs in their car between turns.
Cancellation Policy
1. A full refund will be issued for all cancellations that occur more than 7 days before the start time of the first class/workshop day. 2. A 50% refund will be issued for all cancellations that occur more than 48 hours before, but less than 7 days before the start time of the first class/workshop day. Clients must email us at info@millenniumdogsports.ca to begin this process. 3. No refunds or credits will be issued for group classes/workshops that are cancelled less than 48 hours before the start time of the first class/workshop day. 4. By completing this registration, you agree to abide by the refund policies stated above.
